The Skala 38 sits between the Kumo and G4-20 models, making it an excellent choice for dedicated ultralight enthusiasts who prefer a finely tuned gear setup. Compared to the smaller Grit 28, the Skala features a removable hip belt in a fast-belt style with spacious zippered pockets.
The frameless Skala 38 features cushioned shoulder straps with easy-access pockets for essentials like phones or snacks, a roll-top closure, adjustable side webbing compression, and over-the-top strap with buckle ensure secure load management and minimize movement during transit. Additional features include a large stretch mesh front pocket, dual ample water bottle pockets with customizable elastic cord cinches, and a front zippered security pocket, all designed to enhance accessibility and organization on the trail.
Constructed from Riptide Ripstop 100D Recycled Robic Nylon with a 1500mm polyurethane coating with the incorporation of Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) stretch mesh enhances durability while maintaining a lightweight profile. Weighing a total of 578 grams—comprising a 411-gram pack, a 102-gram hip belt, and a 64-gram removable foam pad—this backpack exemplifies ultralight design without compromising on essential features.

The Skala 38 is available in one size and while this pack performs for a wide range of body sizes, it best fits a torso between 18″ – 21″. Â
Torso length:
Start at the C7 vertebra at the base of your neck. The best way to find this is to bend your neck and feel the first bump along the base of your neck. This bump is where you will want to start your measurement.
Next, you’ll want to find the midpoint between your iliac crest. To find your iliac crest, cup your hipbones on both sides and find the center point on your spine. This midpoint is where your thumbs should be pointing.
Finally, you’ll need help measuring from the C7 vertebra to your iliac crest. From there, you’ll have your torso measurement.
