I’ve carried the pack once so far for a 3-day tramp. Happy with the light weight of the pack itself and the 55 litre volume was just right for the trip. I experimented with carrying the tent on the outside – I had to use my own ties to secure it in place – but found that it got in the way when climbing under fallen trees. I stored it inside the pack after that. The weather was fine on the trip so I didn’t have a chance to see how the pack performed in the rain.
I’ve scored it 4 because from the outset of the tramp I just couldn’t get the pack to sit comfortably. After 4 hours of walking & multiple re-adjustments to hip belt, shoulder straps etc, one of my mates noticed that one of the small toggles that slide through a part of the external frame to hold the shoulder straps in place was hanging loose. Even when put back in place, the toggle slid out very easily, however, once the toggle was tied in place with a shoelace, there was no further discomfort. This is a design fault (confirmed by Warren when I showed him) which needs to be fixed by the makers. The other pesky thing was there was no finger loopy thing on the small zip on the hip belt so opening & closing the zip was almost impossible.
